Did you know that students who regularly participate in Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions generally earn higher course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants?
Let us help you put together all the pieces of the puzzle.
Sometimes it’s easier to relate to another student. Academic Success has trained Peer Tutors who were top students in the courses they tutor. They can help you:
- Get a stronger grasp of subject-area concepts
- Review materials
- Prepare for exams
- Learn how to learn
Our Peer Tutoring program is a free service provided by the office of Academic Success. Peer Tutors guide students in reviewing course material, developing a better understanding of key course content, preparing for exams, developing more effective study strategies for the course, and more.
Individual and group tutoring begins the first day of classes each semester. Most sessions are by appointment, along with some drop-in times when you can just stop by. Services are offered in a hybrid format, so you can connect with our staff either in person or online. You can easily schedule appointments using the button below, stopping by Academic Success on the second floor of the Blackmore Library, or calling us at 614-236-6327 for help with scheduling.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program designed to increase student performance and retention. SI targets historically challenging courses and provides free, voluntary, out-of-class peer-facilitated study and review sessions. SI assistance begins the first week of classes and is open to all students enrolled in the course. SI is not remedial in nature; instead, SI sessions are comprised of students of varying abilities.
SI Leaders are model students of the subject who have already successfully completed the course and have demonstrated excellence. SI Leaders participate in an extensive training program, regularly attend the class sessions, and conduct regular SI sessions each week.
SI sessions integrate “how to learn” with “what to learn.” Students who attend SI sessions discover how to apply appropriate study strategies as they review content material. A wealth of national data shows that students who regularly participate in SI sessions earn higher course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants.
Our Supplemental Instruction (SI) program has been recognized as an accredited program by the International Center for Supplemental Instruction out of University of Missouri - Kansas City. Capital University is the only private institution in the state of Ohio to receive this accreditation, as well as being one of only five schools in Ohio to have an accredited SI program.

We can also help you make sure your paper is properly formatted, and if you’re writing a research paper, we can help you make sure you are properly using and documenting your sources.
